Huntington, L.I.: Never were more prophetically profound words written about our politics and our planet than in your twin editorials on April 21, “Assembly line politics” and “Our only home.”

Calling out the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission for “approving a map that is remarkably similar to the one adopted last year and ruled unconstitutional” is why I emphatically advocate for term limits across the board. It’s another reminder that we all must be vigilant, because our obligation as citizens is to know we are fragile, and we cannot take our beautifully imperfect democracy for granted, as that old axiom still applies: “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Tying in your eloquent words on how, with a changing climate, “we need climate solutions and we need them now” transcending whatever your politics are, we need to think as humans and use our “expansive, imaginative brains” to “uplift and ennoble the spirit” so we all take part in preserving this remarkable planet called Earth.

Inevitably, our obligation and privilege is in the power of words and and peaceful protest, not the abuse of language (propaganda) which history has shown can lead us to societal disruptions and abuse of power. Truth lies in dialogue, and that means listening even in a world saturated with media where true and authentic reality can be drowned out by the cacophony of ignorance, given how immersed we are with distractions. We must remain vigilant by “erecting flood gates to protect against storm surges” — and political leaders who think they are immortal and immune. Chris N. Karalekas

Manhattan: Kaitlyn Rosati’s restaurant reviews (“NYC hidden dining gems,” column, May 4) are a great addition to the Daily News. I hope she continues with a weekly column. It’s just what your paper needs. Robert Iulo

Stony Brook, L.I.: The tasteless comic “Between the Lines” has crossed the line from humorless to profane. It’s time for it to go! Patricia Moffatt Martin

Garwood, N.J.: I sit wondering how the most egotistical person I know will handle the entire world watching King Charles’ coronation with not one eye on him, our delusional former president, sitting by his lonesome at Mar-a-Lago. Will he have Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell declare the coronation a fraud and the three-time loser the rightful heir to the throne? Will he announce that he is actually Queen Elizabeth’s illegitimate son and he should be king? No, I picture him, the master of denial, putting on his most regal bathrobe, maybe a Burger King paper crown, and with a large wooden spoon as his scepter, walk about the estate seeking homage from his loyal subjects. Ah, the clown who would be king! John Deichmeister

Woodside: Looks like Trump is running for president again. It seems he might win if all these accusations are dismissed. Stranger things have happened. Rich Tobiassen

Edison, N.J.: Former mayor and current loon Rudy Giuliani is crying poverty relating to his representation in cases before the court. I hear there are job openings at Tennessee McDonald’s, as they just had to get rid of the 10-year-olds who were working there. Maybe Mango Mussolini can lend Giuliani his plane so he can get to Tennessee and apply for those jobs. Then again, maybe he won’t be hired. Nobody wants hair dye in their fries. Thomas Morrison

Massapequa, L.I.: Voicer Edward Sere is delusional if he thinks crazy Uncle Joe Biden is sending 1,500 troops to the border to actually secure it. Ed, those troops are going for one reason and one reason only — to process the paperwork to allow all these newly registered Democratic voters into the country. Tom Ascher

Manhattan: The nerve of an upstate Republican calling our new All-Electric Buildings Law “unconstitutional” (“Gov: Budget will make N.Y. more ‘more livable,’ ” May 4). The rest of the state is just catching up with New York City’s gas ban to improve air quality and tackle the climate crisis. Buildings account for one-third of dirty emissions statewide. What’ll lower the heat on New York affordability would be adoption of the NY HEAT (Home Energy Affordable Transition) Act, disappointingly left out of the budget for lack of Gov. Hochul’s and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie’s support. The NY HEAT Act would cut utility bills for all New Yorkers, now facing rate hikes to pay for companies to expand their polluting gas infrastructure. A turnaround by Heastie to Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins’s NY HEAT support could get the bill through the Legislature this session. Laurie Joan Aron

Bay Shore, L.I.: You need a smartphone or a smart TV to receive 20 New York Yankees games this year. As an 80-year Yankees fan, I have neither. I’m down to John Sterling on the radio and the Mets on TV! John O’Connell

Brooklyn: Since the city doesn’t know how to deal with this newly discovered “mental health” issue, it is up to us, the public, to deal with NYC’s crazy people. New York has always had crazy people in the streets and subways. This poor Marine, just going about his business, didn’t know that day that he would be out in charge of dealing with NYC’s crazies. It’s his fault that the city didn’t train him in how to deal with the homeless, and his fault he took action. The crazy guy has all the rights and the public have none. Ramon Martinez

Astoria: It’s time for these woke liberals to wake up. When a menace to society with more than 40 arrests, including an assault on a 67-year-old woman, is throwing garbage at subway commuters and verbally taunting them, enough is enough. With more than 20 commuters shoved onto the tracks in 2022 and politicians doing little to solve the problem, the time is now for the public to stop acting like wimps and put their video devices down. The so-called Michael Jackson impersonator failed to beat it and paid the price when he ran into the wrong passenger. The far-from-smooth criminal was taken down by an ex-Marine, who is being vilified for his heroic actions. This is far from a Black or white issue. It’s time for society to shout leave me alone or I may show you who’s bad! Aris Sakellaridis

Port Jefferson Station, L.I.: To Voicer Heyward Johnson: When Daniel Patrick Moynihan said the welfare system would destroy the Black nuclear family, he was branded a racist. It’s sometimes hard to admit the truth, as he was correct then and now. Sir, you can keep your head in the sand and ignore the facts staring you directly in your face — excessive violence in communities of color, unwed teenage mothers, lack of two-parent families and a disdain for getting a good education — at your own peril. I would rather see you get into your community and try to get things headed in the correct direction than use the race card to disavow anyone trying to speak about the realities of the situation. Bob Cavaliere

Hingham, Mass.: The articles regarding the attempt by the commissioner of the FDNY to realign her senior staff are repetitive and lack balance. Surely, there is more information available about the performance or lack thereof of the chiefs who the commissioner has proposed to demote. Give her a break by demonstrating her reasoning. Alan B. Greenstein

Greenwood Lake, N.Y.: To Voicer Susan A. Cassano: I know people talk about the Bible and it’s anti-abortion stance. For my own edification, I would like to know what passages in the Bible you are referring to that allude to abortion being acceptable. Joe Fioramonti

Kew Gardens: In the past, U.S. married women were not allowed to teach due to a marriage bar. This practice, which seems ridiculous now, lasted well into the 1960s, when women started demanding equal rights in their professions. The fight for the rights of women continues, and it is heartening to see that there is no sign they are likely to give up that fight. Glenn Hayes
