Rays call up top prospect Junior Caminero

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Rays are calling up their top prospect from the minor leagues ahead of Tuesday night’s game.

Junior Caminero, 21, is expected to be at Tropicana Field for tonight’s game against the Houston Astros.

Caminero, who likely will play third base, is hitting .276 at Triple-A Durham with 13 homers and 34 RBIs.

He played seven games at the major league level at the end of last season for the Rays, hitting .235 in seven games with a home run and seven RBIs.
