Some heavy rain for the mountains.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Tonight:
It’s clear and cool again, with lows dropping into the mid- to upper 50s under mostly clear skies. Some areas of fog could form in low-lying areas.
Wednesday
Skies should be sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the low 80s with light winds. More clouds will close out the day and it should be mostly cloudy overnight with low temperatures in the low 60s.
Thursday
It will be a mostly cloudy day Thursday with highs in the upper 70s, well below the average high this time of the year(84 degrees). Overnight into Friday morning lows will be in the mid 60s. Some rain will also scattered overnight and begin Friday morning.
Friday
Mostly cloudy to overcast with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms throughout the day. With cloudy skies and rain in the forecast, highs will only be in the mid 70s.
This weekend
This weekend still has a lot of question marks. Where a stationary front sets up will determine how much rain we will see. What we do know is:
- More rain expected west of I-77
- Both days will be overcast with hints of mostly cloudy skies
- Scattered rain is possible but should be more light than heavy
- Highs will only be in the mid to upper 70s
Tropical Update
Tropical Storm Francine is forecast to become a hurricane and make landfall Wednesday along the coast of Louisiana. Numerous impacts from storm surge to tropical storm force winds will impact the Gulf coast region. The Carolinas could face some indirect impacts such as higher rain chances from the remnants of the system by the weekend.
More Tropical Development
There are two tropical waves to watch in the central-eastern Atlantic Ocean with chances of further development.
