(FOX40.COM) — The West Sacramento Fire Department announced plans for a public memorial service for Fire Engineer Timothy Hall, who died during a training exercise in September.

“Fire Engineer Timothy Hall served our community with bravery, selflessness, and a deep commitment to protecting others. This service will be an opportunity for friends, family, colleagues, and the public to pay their respects and show support to Fire Engineer Hall’s family,” the department said in a statement.

The service will be on Tuesday, October 8, at 11 a.m. at Creekside Christian Church in Elk Grove.

The Sacramento Area Firefighters Widows and Orphans Fund launched an online campaign to raise money for Hall’s family.

Hall died on September 23 during a training exercise. The West Sacramento Fire Dept. said he had been with the agency for 18 years, and that he was also a volunteer with the Clarksburg Fire Protection District.

In a statement from that day, Chief Steve Binns said, “Hall loved this city and bravely served to protect our community.”
