(FOX40.COM) — Detectives with the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office are piecing together a series of skimming devices that have been found in Walmart’s around the county.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office made progress in their investigation as they arrested two men who are believed to be connected to the instillation of multiple skimming devices in Yuba County stores.
Surveillance footage from the Linda Walmart showed two men installing a skimming device at one of the self-checkout terminals on Feb. 11.
The device was detected three days later on Feb. 14 by an employee who alerted law enforcement.
While reviewing in store security footage, detectives were also able to view external video that provided information on a possible suspect vehicle.
A Flock Safety license plate reader flagged the suspected license plate on Feb. 22 in Yuba County near the Dollar General on McGowan Parkway, according to the sheriff’s office.
Suspecting that another skimming device had been installed at the store, detectives responded to the Dollar General.
A second skimming device was located that law enforcement say gave strong connections to the device found at the Linda Walmart.
Following the securement of a Ramey warrant for the suspect’s locations and with the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the two men were located in the Arden Arcade area.
Both men have been booked into the Yuba County jail and are facing burglary charges.
Even though possible suspects have been arrested, the sheriff’s office says their investigation is still ongoing as they connect similar crimes in the area.
