Princess Margaret in Denmark, 1964

The Danish Royal Family hosted Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon on their visit to Denmark on this day in 1964, 60 years ago, to open the British Exhibition in Copenhagen celebrating the close relationships between the two Kingdoms and their Royal Families.

Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon were received by King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark as well as Crown Princess Margrethe and Princess Benedikte at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen, right after returning to Denmark following the Wedding Celebrations of King Constantine II of Greece and Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark.

In the evening, Crown Princess Margrethe (wearing the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau) and Princess Benedikte of Denmark joined Princess Margaret (in the Poltimore Tiara) and the Earl of Snowdon for a Banquet held by the British Export Council at the Hotel D’Angleterre in Copenhagen, ahead of the British Exhibition.

Crown Princess Margrethe joined Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon for a Tour of the British Week Exhibition.

A few weeks later later, Princess Margaret (wearing the Cartier Halo Tiara) joined Princess Elisabeth of Denmark (wearing Queen Alexandrine’s Diamond Bandeau) for the Anglo-Danish Society’s Dinner and Dance at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
