The Park Fire, now at 360,141 acres burned and 12% contained, has wreaked havoc on Butte and Tehama counties. It started on July 24 and caused thousands of people to be evacuated from their homes. On July 25, a man was arrested in connection with starting the Park Fire. He was accused of setting a vehicle on fire and pushing it down an embankment.

“The President has been briefed on the Park Fire in Northern California,” the White House Press Office said in a statement on Sunday. “In addition to federal assets already deployed, the President has directed his team to do everything possible to support ongoing fire suppression efforts.”

On July 26, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a State of Emergency after mass evacuations and destruction from the flames. Three days later, Butte County declared a health emergency because of ash and debris in the air. New progress on containment has allowed some evacuation orders to be lifted, however, firefighters continue to battle the seventh largest fire the Golden State has ever seen.
