PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland State University’s president will be attending the State of the Union in Washington, D.C. next week as a guest to Rep. Earl Blumenauer.
The university made the announcement Wednesday, sharing that Blumenauer chose President Ann Cudd because she shares similar values to the congressman.
“President Cudd and I both believe that academic institutions, and students, have an important role to play in our civic institutions and our civic infrastructure and are uniquely situated to help engage in some of Portland’s most pressing challenges,” Blumenauer (D-OR) said.
Cudd said it is “an absolute honor to be invited” to the event, which takes place Thursday, March 7.
“Congressman Blumenauer is a tireless champion for Portland and for so many of the values that Portland and Portland State University hold dear,” she said. “We share a passion for the revitalization of our great city and he has a deep understanding of our unique student population and the vital role that PSU plays as Oregon’s urban research university.”
