Poll: Maricopans divided on marijuana-facility ordinance changes – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

[ad_1]

Medical marijuana dispensaries and recreational pot-sales facilities have been a high point of conversation among Maricopans for some time.

On April 4, City Council updated wording and distances to zoning ordinances relating to marijuana sales, among the changes increasing the minimum distance to 1,500 feet from 500 feet that recreational-marijuana sales facilities must be from schools.

The leading response, with 53% of votes, was, “Yes, I am tired of driving out of town for recreational and medical marijuana.”

Coming in at No. 2, with 32% of votes, was, “No, it will just bring more crime to our city.”

Fifteen percent of voters said the land ought to be used for something else.
