Police vow to boost CBD presence after alarming spate of crime – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Police are vowing to be out in force in the CBD, and conduct more weapons searches, in the wake of a number of alarming high-profile criminal incidents.

On top of ordinary bolstering of police resources in the city in September, Victoria Police is increasing its presence following the tragic fatal incident on Bourke and Russell streets on Friday night to improve community confidence.

There will be more general duties officers, as well as specialist units including the Mounted Branch and Air Wing in the city in coming weeks.

Several designated areas will also be declared where police have additional powers to search for weapons.
