Police: Attempted robbery suspect shoots self at Colfax and High

DENVER (KDVR) — Police said an attempted robbery suspect suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday night after a foot chase in Denver.

The Denver Police Department posted about the incident at 9:40 p.m. and said it happened near Colfax Avenue and High Street, at the north end of the Cheesman Park neighborhood.

“Officers initially responded to a report of an attempted robbery and engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect,” the department said. “The suspect while hiding, appears to have suffered a self-inflicted gun shot wound.”

Police said officers did not fire any shots. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but no further information was released about the person.

The investigation was ongoing.
