Planning a Fall Getaway to Charleston: Here Are the New Restaurants to Checkout on Your Trip

There are so many restaurants in Charleston that it can be a bit overwhelming, so we reached out to local foodie Meredith Fischl of @eatdrinkplaycharleston to clue us in to what’s the newest and the best.
From casual barbecue joints to sophisticated steakhouses, here’s where Meredith tells us you’ll want to make your reservations in Charleston for your next trip.
New Restaurants to Try in Charleston SC
XO Brasserie | A perfect mix of Szechuan and Cantonese flavors, XO Brasserie puts a modern twist to Asian cuisine with its sleek interior and flavorful menu. A table favorite, the Steak Chow Fun with perfectly cooked ribeye, egg, onion, bean sprouts, scallions tossed in a house savory soy is a must. My top bite? The Xinjiang Lollipops. Four double-chopped lamb chops marinated in a five spice Sichuan brine and served in a roasted root, curry sauce brought an exceptional balance of flavors. As always, save room for dessert ~ the midnight snack, a fried bao bun with miso cream cheese and fruity pebbles, blew me away.

The Select | A nod to the famous Parisian brasserie, Le Select, The Select is Charleston’s newest place to connect leaning into approachable elegance with a new American flare. The space is beautiful and the hanging flower garden bar is destined to be an icon in no time. My favorite bite? The Burrata, Tomato & Peach salad. Taking advice from our server, we ordered the French baguette, made in house daily. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail, try the refreshing watermelon margarita.

Marbled & Finn | If you’re looking for the ultimate steakhouse experience, make a reservation at Marbled & Finn. Pairing sophisticated vibes with mouthwatering cuts of steak, this is the place to go when you’re in the mood for a decadent dinner. Think dry-aged perfection paired with a stellar wine list. Don’t skip dessert – the baked Alaska is a showstopper.

Palmira Barbecue | What do you get when you mix flavors from Carolina, Texas, and Puerto Rico? Palmira Barbecue. Recently gaining national praise from Forbes and Southern Living, Hector Garate is the brains behind smoky, tender meats and flavorful sides sure not to disappoint. Proclaiming Beef Cheef is king, get there early if you want to secure the best thing on the menu before it sells out.

The Archer | Dishing up comfort food in a cozy setting, The Archer debuted in August and quickly earned praise. A classic, American tavern, the team behind Berkeley’s delivers elevated comfort food alongside craft cocktails like “The Ambiguous Bird” available on tap. I hear the seared duck frites, served with a citrus jus, is a dish not to miss.

Tinto Café & Provisions | Whether you’re after a morning pick-me-up or a leisurely afternoon glass of wine, Tinto Café & Provisions is the spot. Sip on a perfect latte while enjoying a buttery croissant, or unwind with a glass of wine and charcuterie before dinner reservations down the street. A big congratulations to local owner’s @carolinadjewett and @kevinjewett for opening their second location in 2024. In addition to their well-loved gelato and coffee roasted locally in Mt Pleasant, you’ll find an expanded offering on John St including sandwiches and charcuterie.

Costa | Modern Italian, Costa offers a fresh take on Italian classics with its contemporary menu and inviting atmosphere. My favorite bites landed in the appetizer course where oysters were elevated with olive oil and fresh crushed tomato. The scallop crudo, with passionfruit, avocado, and lime blew us away and we were all craving another bite of the burrata, served over sourdough and finished with strawberry and chili. Into the entrees – the pecorino ravioli was a favorite and absolutely melted in my mouth. Whatever you do, just be sure to order the crispy potatoes. Don’t skip dessert! The lemon tiramisu was perfection.

LTLE Fish | Unique experience LTLE Fish delivers a dining experience like no other. An a la carte version of popular Raw Lab, LTLE Fish leans closer to an adventure than a traditional meal. With seating for 12 around the U-shaped bar, expect the unexpected on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 6:00 and 8:15 pm.

Taverna | My favorite new restaurant in Mt Pleasant, I can’t get enough of Taverna Philosohpia. A second act for friends of 25 years Dimitri and Chef Justin, Taverna offers a cozy yet vibrant ambiance and an incredible menu meant to be shared. Alongside Greek showstoppers like Saganaki, flaming Kefalograviera cheese, you’ll find fresh seafood to perfectly cooked pastas. The Salmon Tartare is a MUST and was one of my favorite bites of the night alongside the Bone-In Short Rib served with goat cheese potatoes. Do not skip the Loukoumades, Greek donuts served with honey, pistachio, and sesame and if you’re a fan of Baklava (like me) – order it!

Bodega Mt P | Heading to Sullivan’s Island or Isle of Palms? Stop by Bodega in Mt Pleasant for the ultimate pre-beach bite. Fuel up before a fun filled day in the sand with delicious sandwiches and coffees without getting out of the car in their drive-thru or stay a while and sit on the patio – one of my favorite places to dine outdoors in Mt Pleasant. Ask about their monthly specials.

da Toscano Porchetta Shop | The third venture of the team who brought us Charleston staple Le Farfalle and New York hotspot da Toascano, this is da Toscano Porchetta Shop. Welcoming you with tile from a well-loved trattoria in Rome, the shop, located on the corner of President and Cannon in downtown Charleston, transports you to the streets of Italy. You’re immediately greeted with the smell of porchetta cooked on the in-shop rotisserie daily and sourced locally from Holy City Hog. The porchetta sandwich is easily one of the best I’ve ever had – perfectly seasoned, tender, and absolutely worth every bite. Don’t expect to sit, the shop offers standing room only.
