Plain-Clothed Cops Steal Ksh 373K After Handcuffing Man in Nairobi CBD – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Four police officers were on Friday, June 2, arrested for allegedly stealing Ksh373,000 from a businessman near a matatu stage along Charles Rubia Road.
In an account of events recorded under OB number 60/2/6/2023 at the Kamukunji Police Station, it was revealed that the man was heading to board a matatu bound for Narok. The businessman had just been paid the money for supplying meat at Burma Market.
Police indicated that the four plained-clothed officers approached the man before handcuffing him.
The four reportedly arrested him for loitering, conducted a search and discovered the money he was carrying in one of his pockets.

“He was taken through a lane and at a certain point, he was searched and one of the officers stole from him a total of Ksh373,000 which he had been paid as proceeds after selling meat of twelve cows at Burma market at Shaurimoyo.
“The man tried to follow them but they disappeared into the crowd of people,” read the statement in part.
He then reported the matter to Kamukunji Police Station where senior officers summoned the four who were on patrol in the area when the incident happened.
The businessman was able to identify one of the officers who eventually gave the identity of his colleagues.
Immediately after, the officers were disarmed and taken to the Kamukunji Police Station…
