From the flight deck at 35,000 Dreamliner pilot Matt Melnyk flies from south Alberta northeastward toward London. He can see everything and he tells meteorologist Kaitlin Wright it never gets old!
Melnyk says, “So as we are flying I can start to see the oval of the aurora, I can see it. It’s there. And we are flying further and further towards it and the closer I get you can start to make out more definition of it. You can see pillars. And as you get even closer, you can start to make out the greens, the purples, the reds, the pinks. Then you can see it moving and dancing.”
