PHOTOS: Car slams into Ohio City restaurant

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Residents of a new high-rise in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood were startled out of bed early Thursday when a car crashed into the building and caused an alarm to sound.

The crash happened just after 3 a.m. at 2050 Gehring Avenue.

The car crashed into Jaja Steakhouse located on the building’s first floor.

“I heard the building shake, I felt it,” said Lizzy Alley, who was awoken by the crash.

According to officials, the driver was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

Police said speed appears to be a factor in the cause of the crash.

A city building inspector and fire officials were called to the scene to assist.
