Person steals Walmart excavator, smashes through store wall

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A suspect is in custody after stealing a Walmart excavator, crashing it into power poles and driving it through the wall of the store in Gainesville Monday night.

According to the Gainesville Police Department (GPD), officers responded to the Walmart at 2900 SW 42nd Street. Police also found a storage unit in the area of 2700 SW 40th Boulevard that the suspect drove through with the excavator.

The suspect is in custody at this time.
