Parking, road closure info released ahead of Downtown Cleveland events

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Specific traffic information has been released ahead of a busy Friday night in Cleveland.

At 7 p.m. on Friday, the Billy Joel and Rod Stewart concert will kick off at Huntington Bank Field, followed shortly after by a Guardians home game at 7:10, and a Nicki Minaj concert at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at 9 p.m.

According to a press release from the City of Cleveland, there will be road closures and parking restrictions downtown to accommodate the large crowds that are expected for the three events. 

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

From 6 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, restrictions will be in place on:

  • Erieside Ave. from East 9th St. around the north side of the stadium to West 3rd St.

From 3 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, restrictions will be in place on:

  • Lakeside Ave. from East 9th St. to West 9th St.
  • St. Clair Ave. from East 9th St. to West 9th St.
  • East 9th St. from Lakeside Ave. to Carnegie Ave.
  • West 9th St. from Front Ave. to West Superior Ave.

From 4 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, restrictions will be in place on:

  • Prospect Ave. from East 9th St. to Ontario St.
  • Huron R. from Ontario St. to Prospect Ave.

EXIT RAMP/ROAD CLOSURES

From 6 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, the following closures will be in effect:

  • Al Lerner Way
  • Additional portions of Erieside Avenue

From 5 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, the following closures will be in effect:

  • West 3rd St. Exit Ramp from Route 2 Westbound
  • East 9th St. Exit Ramp from both Route 2 Westbound and Eastbound

Access to Route 2 from West 3rd St. and East 9th St. will be open until 5 p.m.

According to the release, access to Route 2 Eastbound from East 9th St. will be open from Lakeside Ave. only during the events. Access to The Pit Lot and Huntington Park Garage will also be open on West 3rd St. throughout the evening.

Access to The Muni Lot will be open from Route 2 or South Marginal Rd. east of the Muni Lot as well. 

According to the city of Cleveland, the closures and restrictions are subject to change based on “real-time information” as the events are happening. 

Because parking can sometimes be hard to find, A map released by the Browns shows where people should get dropped off and picked up for ride-share services.
