Park Rangers are investigating reports of a strange black substance at Folsom Lake. Boaters said they have been dealing with the issue for weeks. Park Ranger Barry Smith said the Brown’s Ravine ramp is the only area impacted and it’s not an area where people swim. “I wouldn’t say that there is any risk out here being on the lake,” said Smith. Crews working to remove the substance from the ramp. Smith said this is the first time they’ve dealt with this issue and they think it might be oil that leaked from a boat. As they continue to investigate, he asks those who visit the lake to keep their boats clean. “It very well could have been that somebody purged their bilge around the ramp area,” said Smith.
