Pamela Anderson was one of the most glam celebrities of the ’90s and early 2000s. Now, at 56 years old, she’s proving you don’t need makeup to slay — even at Paris Fashion Week. Anderson hit up the fashion shows with no makeup, sporting a fresh, hydrated face with glowy skin with her signature long blonde hair cascading down.
We aren’t the only ones who noticed. Iconic actor Jamie Lee Curtis posted Anderson’s picture on her Instagram praising the star for her natural beauty. “THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!” she wrote. “@pamelaanderson in the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion.”
Her famous friends agree. “Love this. Beautiful self assuredness,” Selma Blair commented. “Women are reclaiming ourselves…our faces, our bodies, our natural beauty underneath the weight of society’s unrelenting expectations,” said entrepreneur Erin Gallagher.
In an interview with Elle, Anderson talked about her decision to go makeup-free. It was, in part, due to her finally being able to make her own decisions about what she looks like. “I just went along with what people were telling me what to do,” she said. Then, when her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, tragically passed away from breast cancer, she gave up on her original look altogether.
“She was the best,” Anderson told the magazine. “And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.” The result has been “freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too. Because I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone’s doing,” she said. “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”
