STOCKTON, Calif. (KTXL) – Pacific has named Dave Smart its next men’s basketball coach.
Smart, who replaces Leonard Perry, takes over a program that went 6-26 overall last season (0-16 in the West Coast Conference).
According to a news release from the university, Smart is “widely regarded as the most successful Canadian college basketball coach of all time.”
“I am thrilled with the opportunity to lead the Tigers into a new era,” Smart said in a statement. “Adam and President Callahan have an ambitious and exciting vision for the program, and I thank them for entrusting me with the task of bringing that vision to life.”
Dave Smart spent the past season as an assistant coach at Texas Tech. Before that, he was at Carleton University in Ottawa for 18 seasons.
He won 656 games at Carleton.
