Oregon’s Leaders Claim to Care About Kids, But Their Actions Say Otherwise – KXL

When they tell you it’s all about the kids, don’t buy it. By “they,” I mean the liberal Democrats who control every single level of government in Oregon. Let me give you two specific examples that put the lie to that claim.

The Jewell School District in Oregon’s Coast Range depends on millions it receives from logging in state forests. Cut the trees and grow some more—the ultimate renewable resource. Now, the state’s new habitat conservation plan steals that money from the kids. A court just denied the school district’s appeal, so education bankruptcy looms.

In Portland, a high school senior girl beats the daylights out of a freshman girl because she didn’t like the girl’s expression. Adult staff members stood by and watched, doing nothing. Eighty blows fell on that teenage girl, according to the lawsuit brought by her mom. The school didn’t even offer medical help to the victim of the beating.

The Daily Dead Fishwrapper reported the result this way: “The lawsuit says Dania Kali suffered two black eyes, a swollen nose, headaches, vision problems, nausea, and a concussion. Her daughter was unable to attend school for nine full days and was unable to read or write for about two weeks.”

School officials not only did not report this criminal assault on a student in their care, but they also told her mom that surveillance video of the crime would only be released if the police filed a subpoena. Now, tell me again how it’s all about the kids.
