One killed, others injured in shooting near resource center in East Oakland

(KRON) — A fatal shooting happened near a resource center in East Oakland on Thursday night, the Oakland Police Department said. One victim was killed and others were hospitalized with injuries.

OPD responded to the 7900 block of Ney Avenue just after 7 p.m. for ShotSpotter activations.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, OPD said. Multiple others were privately transported to hospitals.

The Parker Community Resource Center is located at 7929 Ney Ave., the same block as the shooting. It was previously Parker Elementary School before the school closed.
