Marijuana possession: Lorain Road
An officer at 4:43 p.m. on July 7 stopped a black Dodge Challenger on Lorain Road after observing a tinted license plate cover that obstructed the view of the plate number.
The driver pulled into a restaurant parking lot. As the officer talked to the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to a police report. The man denied having marijuana in the car, but then added, “I’m not sure how you can smell it.”
Officers performed a probable cause search and located three bags of marijuana with a total weight of 77.9 grams, according to the report.
Police cited the driver for marijuana possession, a seat belt violation, and improper display of license plates.
Theft: Brookpark Road
A suspected woman shoplifter was arrested and charged after she made repeated trips out of a Walmart store with stolen merchandise, according to a police report.
At 2:13 p.m. on July 7, officers responded to Walmart after store security spotted a suspected female shoplifter. An asset protection officer said they had already watched her make two trips to her car with unpaid merchandise, and she had returned to the store for a third time. Officers and store security stopped the woman and found numerous clothing items concealed in a large black Michael Kors purse she was carrying.
