EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — On June 25, the National Transportation Safety Board will be heading back to East Palestine, Ohio, for the final board meeting related to the derailment that thrust the small town into a national spotlight last year.

What You Need To Know

The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. at East Palestine High School, located at 360 W Grant St. It will also be streamed to YouTube on the NTSB’s channel.

“During the public meeting, NTSB board members will vote on the final findings, probable cause, and recommendations,” the release reads. “The board will also vote on any changes to the draft final report.”

There will also be two community meetings at the high school on June 24 and 25, planned by the NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy, where community members will be able to ask questions.

“The NTSB is returning to East Palestine for our final board meeting for the same reasons we went last summer: Because the communities most affected by this tragedy deserve to hear our findings in-person and in real-time,” Homendy said in the release.

The release states that the NTSB had an investigative hearing in East Palestine last June and that they have released an accident docket with “more than 1,800 pages of factual information, such as factual reports, interview transcripts and other investigative materials.”

They also note that the hearing transcripts, along with other information, can be found in the hearing docket.
