(FOX40.COM) — A boba shop promising to offer a diverse menu featuring boba drinks, fresh sushi to-go, and ice cream-based treats is coming to Sacramento.

Bella’s Boba Shop, 563 Eleanor Ave., announced it will open on Saturday, Aug. 17, and host a grand opening starting at 10 a.m.

According to a release from the office of Shoun Thao, Bella’s Boba Shop would become the first-ever Boba shop in North Sacramento.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to the North Sacramento community and share our passion for boba drinks and other treats,” said the owner of Bella’s Boba Shop Dao Yang.

Yang continued, “Our goal is to create a thriving economy here in District 2 where residents can eat, work, and play local…Bella’s will offer yet another welcoming space where everyone can enjoy delicious and affordable beverages and snacks.”

Created in Taiwan in the 1980s, boba are small, black spheres made from tapioca starch that mimics the appearance of pearls, which is why they are sometimes referred to as “tapioca pearls.”

It is most commonly used in bubble tea and is often covered in brown sugar syrup. Bubble tea can be made by layering previously prepared boba with black or green tea or made creamy with milk, sweetened condensed milk, or another type of cream, according to AllRecipes.

Other boba shops in the Sacramento area include QTea Boba on Riverside Boulevard in the Greenhaven area, Boba Storie on Elkhorn Boulevard near Citrus Heights, and Pearls Boba on Fair Oaks Boulevard in the East Sacramento/Arden-Arcade area.
