New video reveals questionings following Madeline Soto’s disappearance

Newly released video shows the intense questioning of Jennifer Soto and Stephan Sterns by deputies investigating the disappearance of 13-year-old Madeline Soto.”Do you have any idea of where she could be?” a detective asked. “No. None at all. No,” said Sterns.The video captures Stephan Sterns in an interrogation, being pressed by deputies who were trying to track down Madeline.They spent hours seeking answers.”Well I can confidently tell you she did not go to school with her backpack,” the investigator said. “How’s that?” Sterns replied. “Because we found it in the trash. So, I’m pleading with you to dig down and do some soul-searching,” a detective said.Sterns asked for an attorney, and the questioning ended. Sterns was arrested.”Do you want to know what you’re being detained for?” the detective asked. “Capital sexual battery and possession of child pornography.”Deputies removed Sterns’ clothes and took photos to see if they matched evidence found on his phone.He sat cuffed, took a sip of water, and was then walked out.Deputies say he was supposed to take Madeline to school on the day she disappeared.”Can I get a tissue,” Jennifer Soto cried as she began her March 1 interview with deputies, recounting the day she learned her daughter never showed up to class. “At some point, I emailed one of the teachers asking if she made it to class. I checked her attendance, and she didn’t make it at all,” Soto said.Deputies also pressed her, questioning her awareness about her daughter’s years of alleged abuse.”If I knew what to tell you, I would tell you. I don’t know anything,” she told investigators.So far, only Sterns has been charged in this case.He is due back in court on Oct. 14.
