Hard Rock recently confirmed the closure of Mirage Las Vegas, and that they would layoff the 3,000 plus Mirage employees when the resort closes in July. That’s not great news to the families who depend on those jobs, especially after the company had stated the hotel would not shut down during the transition.

Now a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification has been filed with the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation to help those displaced Mirage employees find new jobs. They will also assist individuals with health insurance options, job training, workshops, and planning a budget.

Additionally, the resort will also hold hiring events in collaboration with other employers throughout the Las Vegas valley over the upcoming months. Both union and non-union employees who stay with the property until the July 17th closing will also be eligible for a share of approximately $80 million in severance pay.

Department Director Christopher Sewell stated “Our goal is to make sure The Mirage staff feel supported during this time. We are finalizing a full customized schedule of workshops, job fairs, informational sessions and resources employees will use as they transition into new jobs.” The governor’s office added that the work of the department will help connect outgoing Mirage employees with new opportunities and helpful resources.

Those services will be available to workers both at the Mirage and online. There was no word about plans to re-hire individuals when the new Hard Rock Las Vegas opens, which is tentatively set for May of 2027. Hard Rock’s new 660-foot guitar-shaped hotel will stand where the famous volcano attraction now sits, towering over the center of The Strip.
