Neil Young has announced a new album, a collection of acoustic versions of some of his older songs. The LP is titled Before and After, and it’s out December 8. Young has shared the first three tracks as a preview: “I’m the Ocean,” “Homefires,” and “Burned.”  Listen to those and see what else is on the record below.

Before and After arrives just a few months after the release of Chrome Dreams, a “lost” record recorded between 1944 and 1977. Young shared a brief statement about his latest efforts:

The feeling is captured, not in pieces, but as a whole piece — designed to be listened to that way. This music presentation defies shuffling, digital organization, separation. Only for listening. That says it all.

Over the summer, Young embarked on a short tour, his first live performances since 2019. In September, he returned to Farm Aid, and helped commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Roxy in Los Angeles with a headlining performance at the storied club.
