NC county employee arrested, suspended for soliciting prostitution: Sheriff

MONROE, N.C. (WJZY) — A Union County employee has been arrested Friday for soliciting prostitution, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said Griffin worked as a Union County Government Eligibility Technician since September 2022. This role typically helps those who are applying for government benefits or health care programs, according to NC State University.

Deputies said 21-year-old Kendall Griffin, from Monroe, was arrested as part of an ongoing solicitation investigation. She was arrested on Friday and was charged with ten counts of misdemeanor solicit prostitution.

According to authorities, Griffin was processed and released Friday afternoon after she posted a $1,500 unsecured bond.

“We have taken immediate action to suspend Kendall Griffin’s employment with Union County without pay,” said County Manager Brian Matthews in a statement. “I am fully committed to supporting the Sheriff’s Office with the ongoing investigation. We hold our employees to the utmost standards of integrity and professionalism and remain committed to doing so.”
