NAPLES, Fla. — A Fort Myers man has been sentenced to over two years in prison and two years probation after he slapped a person’s car and threatened to cut a homeowner with a box cutter razor in Collier County.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, 38-year-old Torrey Gary was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in June after a trial in Naples.
On November 26, 2021, Gary was working for a moving company and was helping a family move from a Collier County home when he suddenly slapped one of the family’s cars.
According to the report, the owner of the home was arguing with Gary inside the residence when the mover pulled out a box cutter razor and threatened to cut the owner.
The family was able to get away from Gary safely before he fled the scene in his work van.
Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office tracked Gary down at a nearby gas station and arrested him.
As part of Gary’s sentence. he must take anger management classes, have no contact with the victims and may not trespass at the victims’ home.
