(BCN) — A motorcyclist died in a crash Wednesday night in Rohnert Park, according to public safety officials.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety was alerted to a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle in the area of Redwood and Business Park drives.
First responders found the motorcyclist, a 21-year-old Rohnert Park man, laying down on the roadway with critical injuries. He was given initial medical treatment and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The occupants of the passenger vehicle, including its driver and two passengers, were taken to hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Investigators said the passenger vehicle was heading north on Redwood Drive at the intersection of Business Park Drive, while the motorcyclist was traveling south on Redwood Drive approaching the same intersection. The vehicle turned left in front of the southbound motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to hit the side of the vehicle.
Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the crash, according to public safety officials.
The names of the motorcyclist and the driver of the vehicle will not be released as the collision is under investigation.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety at (707) 584-2600 and refer to case no. 24-1483.
