A monkey who turned up outside a hospital was treated for wounds three times by shocked medics.
The animal rocked up at Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex in Chittagong in Bangladesh after sustaining injuries thought to have been caused by sitting on power lines.
Doctors took him in and dressed his wounds with bandages, the Dhaka Tribune reports.
A picture shows him sitting on a pillar near the hospital with dressings around the bottom of his limbs.
Dr Nuruddin Rashed, a physician at the Sitakund Upazila Health Complex, said: “I found the monkey, with wounds, sitting on the balcony of the hospital when I was about to leave work.
“Later, I dressed the wounds on the monkey, and it left the health complex.”
But it wasn’t long before the monkey was back for new bandages.
The doctor added: “The animal seemed to be in pain and some of the wounds in the back started to rot.
“This could have happened due to electric shock from sitting on power lines.”
Following up on his patient, the doctor found him sitting on a tree branch near the hospital.
But sadly, after a third intervention from doctors and being treated for five consequtive days, the monkey died, local newspapers reported.
He was buried in the custody of the Department of Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation.
