CHICAGO —A judge declared a mistrial Thursday in a corruption trial tied to former Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan.

AT&T Illinois’ former president Paul La Schiazza is accused of paying a bribe to Madigan as  AT&T Illinois had been trying to pass legislation worth millions.

The bill in question became law in summer 2017 with the Madigan’s support.

La Schiazza is declined to testify in his own defense.

The jury of four men and eight women had been deliberating since Tuesday. On Thursday they told the judge they were deadlocked.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
