The Metropolitan School of Panama (MET) collaborated last Wednesday with the Leadership Program for School Directors in the Educational Region of San Miguelito.

The MET, part of the Nord Anglia Education family of premium schools worldwide, played a crucial role in the ongoing success of this program by offering its world-class campus and the valuable contribution of its educational staff to conduct the “Digital Tools for Teaching” workshop, with a total participation of 45 individuals, including school directors and teacher leaders.

During this educational event, attendees had the unique opportunity to explore and discuss the latest innovations in the digital field – from the basics of technology to how the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach fosters learning in students.

Indira Acosta, Academic Director of the Metropolitan School of Panama said, “For the MET family, it has been enriching to be able to share our knowledge and experiences with the visitors, which has translated into mutual learning experiences.”

The workshop focused on various key aspects:

  1. Education 4.0
  2. Cultivating a Digital Mind
  3. Access to Technology through Open Educational Resources
  4. Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Augmented Reality
  5. Digital Tools in Spanish Language Teaching
  6. Online Libraries and Learning Games

The workshop promoted the application of the scientific method in the sciences, simulations as an educational tool, and other solutions in robotics. The overall contribution of STEAM education to the development of critical skills in children was emphasized.

In support of the ongoing improvement of education, the MET provided iPads to school directors, aimed at enhancing the technological learning experience in their classrooms.

The program, a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of Panama (AmCham), has been at the forefront of educational leadership training since 2010. This program has been developed in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Education of San Miguelito of the Ministry of Education of Panama (MEDUCA) and has transformed education in the region.
