Memorial dedicated for Marshall Fire victims

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A memorial was dedicated on Friday to the two people who lost their lives in the Marshall Fire and the thousands of people affected by the state’s most destructive wildfire.

Robert Sharpe is one of the two residents who died in the blaze, which started Dec. 30, 2021.

“He was just an everywhere person,” said Sharpe’s sister, Eileen Fournier.

Sharpe’s family paid for the memorial and was present for a ceremony led by Boulder County Open Space. The temporary spot for the memorial is Marshall Mesa Open Space, nestled in between Highway 93 and Sharpe’s home.

“He fought constantly for protecting the great outdoors,” Fournier said.

She said her brother was a 25-year resident of Boulder County.

Fournier said a permanent spot will be found for the memorial near Marshall Mesa.

“I just know he would appreciate being remembered in this way,” she said.

Sharpe is buried in Westminster.
