Members of the New York Times union are planning to strike on Thursday if negotiations fail

[ad_1]

More than 1,100 union employees at the New York Times Co are poised to strike for 24 hours on Thursday after discussions with the news publisher for a “full and equitable contract” fell through on Tuesday, according to a tweet from the union.

The New York Times NewsGuild threatened to strike on December 8 if a contract was not negotiated by then.

According to the letter signed by 1,036 members last week, the NYTimes NewsGuild is seeking “full and equitable contract” pay that “keeps up with inflation,” as well as the preservation and enhancement of health insurance and retirement benefits promised during employment. The organization said on Tuesday that the number of signatories had surpassed 1,100.
