When you think of easy breezy separates for spring/summer, what comes to mind? Not everyone loves to wear shorts and dresses, but comfy pants are pretty much a no-brainer. However, we have some rules! Said pants have to be low maintenance, as in no ironing allowed. They have to be versatile …think vacations, easy to pack, can be dressed up AND dressed down. And, most importantly, they must be comfy! And, for a bonus entry, we also don’t want to break the budget. Well, Erin found the ultimate pair of gauzy, lightweight pants that check all of these boxes. See how she styles them 4 different ways so you can keep these in rotation for all your super chic warm-weather outfits this spring and summer.

Best Wide-Leg Pants
Rails Leon Gauzy Cotton Pants
Erin first bought these Rails pants for a trip to CA a couple of years ago. They sold out pretty quickly, so we didn’t have a chance to feature them too much. So, we were super excited when we saw they were back in stock and available in a few new colors! They’re made of this super yummy and soft, lightweight, non-stretch, crinkly gauze cotton. They have an elastic waistband, flattering high waist, pockets, and a wide-leg cut with a raw edge split hem perfect for highlighting your favorite summery shoes. The inseam is 32” so for Erin at 5’4”, she has to wear a wedge sandal, platform sneaker, or heel. If you’re taller you can wear any shoe including flats. But, if you’re on the more petite side, you’ll have to have these hemmed which will shorten the length of the split at the bottom, so you’ll just want to keep that in mind.
Erin is wearing the color Flax, but they also come in white and black. The Flax color is really versatile since you can pair it with any neutral colors like white, navy, gray, ivory, black, etc. Let’s jump into 4 ways to style them…
#1) Rails Leon Pants & Rails Ellis Top
If you’ve been following Erin for a while, no doubt you recognize this Rails Ellis gauze button-down. She’s had it for years and it’s incredibly versatile. It’s a pretty permanent fixture in Erin’s wardrobe for everyday and travel. Paired with the pants, it makes such a comfy chic outfit for just about anything you might be doing this summer. The top has a relaxed fit but runs true to size and washes beautifully! It also comes in a few more colors like black, navy, pink, etc. if you already own the white or want to mix it up. Erin added some mule sandals, a statement necklace, and some sunnies to finish off this effortless look.
#2) Rails Leon Pants, Tee & Blazer
In this next outfit, Erin swapped the Rails button-down for a white t-shirt and a crepe blazer by Cinq a Sept. The blazer is a great weight for summer, doesn’t wrinkle, and has the coolest ruching at the sleeves so you can effortlessly achieve that scrunched-up sleeve look. This would be a great outfit for dinner, brunch, or a day of shopping and running around (just swap out the heels for sneakers). It’ll be your little secret just how comfortable you are while rocking this sophisticated ensemble!
#3) Rails Leon Pants & Floral Blouse
Just because these pants have an elastic waistband, doesn’t mean you can’t front tuck or fully tuck a beautiful floral blouse into them. The waistband has an elevated ruffled, finished edge. The key would be to make sure the fabric of the floral blouse coordinates well with the fabric of the pants…nothing too heavy. #4) Rails Leon Pants & Elevated White Tee
In this last look, Erin paired the Rails pants with a not-so-basic white tee. The tee has puff shoulders and ties at the sleeve…details like these add some interest without sacrificing any comfort. This exact tee is no longer available, but we’ll link some white tees below with similar, elevated details. Again, super comfortable AND stylish with minimal effort. For a day out in the sun, you can add a chic hat like Erin did to dial up the cool factor.
