Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

MISLEADING Claim via Social Media: A post made on X claims that presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced that she will legalize marijuana for Black Americans.

Check Your Fact rating: Unsubstantiated (Harris pledged to legalize marijuana for all Americans, including Black Americans.)

FACT CHECK: Did Kamala Harris Announce That She Would Legalize Marijuana For Black Americans?

FALSE Claim by Donald Trump (R): Vice President Kamala Harris’ plan “will raise taxes for the typical American family by an estimated $3,000.”

PolitiFact rating: False (An independent analysis found that if Harris let all of Trump’s 2017 tax cuts expire, taxpayers would lose about $2,800 on average. However, this doesn’t apply to her plan, as she intends to renew most of the cuts, except for those affecting incomes over $400,000. Three separate analyses show that Harris’ tax proposals would cut taxes for the bottom 60% of earners, including incomes up to about $107,000. For those earning between $107,000 and $195,000, tax increases would be under $3,000.)

Donald Trump says Kamala Harris’ plan would hike taxes on “the typical American family.” It doesn’t.
