Man dead after pedestrian collision in Gilroy

(KRON) – A man has succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a vehicle, according to the Gilroy Police Department. 

Gilroy PD was alerted of a car colliding into a pedestrian on No Name Uno near St. Louise Regional Hospital around 12:23 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive pedestrian lying in the roadway. 

A nurse stopped driving to render aid. According to police, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after. 

A minor was driving the vehicle that hit the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene and spoke with police. According to police, it does not appear the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 

The decedent was identified as a 32-year-old Gilroy resident. The victim’s identity is being held until the next of kin is notified.
