SIOUX CENTER—A 28-year-old Onaka, SD, man was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, in Sioux Center on charges of public intoxication, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — cannabidiol, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, interference with official acts, bribery, assault on persons in certain occupations — intent of injury.
The arrest of Daniel John Baer stemmed from a report of him harassing the front desk clerk at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Sioux Center, according to the Sioux Center Police Department.
He registered a .254 on a preliminary breath test and was transported to Sioux Center Health for clearance.
Baer became extremely combative; offered money bribes to two officers to be released; was extremely loud and causing distress to other families and children in the emergency room; and assaulted two officers, according to the incident report.
He also was found in possession of a THC vaping device and admitted to using it.
