Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert isn’t buying a recent CNN poll she believes skews a little far from the truth regarding public support for former President Donald Trump’s indictment.

Boebert took to Twitter after CNN released the results of a poll where respondents were asked “Do you (approve) or (disapprove) of the decision to indict Trump?” The results showed 60 percent voting approved, while only 39 percent strongly disapproved.

As to how anyone could support an indictment before they know what’s in the indictment, well that figures into the poll, too.

“CNN’s poll claiming 60% of Americans approve of Trump’s indictment is as fake as Biden’s White House play set,” she tweeted in response to the results.

The Whole Picture?

According to CNN’s summary of the poll, it was noted that despite the majority of respondents having voted for approval, there is consensus that the move to indict the former president was purely done for political purposes.

“About three-quarters of Americans say politics played at least some role in the decision to indict Trump, including 52% who said it played a major role,” noted the network.

“Independents largely line up in support of the indictment — 62% approve of it and 38% disapprove. Democrats are near universal in their support for the indictment (94% approve, including 71% who strongly approve of the indictment), with Republicans less unified in opposition (79% disapprove, with 54% strongly disapproving).”

That most people agree it’s political is likely the reason why the left would claim they support an indictment they know nothing about.

This poll was conducted last week, between March 31st and April 1st and consisted of a “random national sample of 1,048 adults surveyed by text message after being recruited using probability-based methods.”

The Numbers That Matter to Trump

Despite how the indictment may appear, the divisive nature of the whole situation has actually helped Trump immensely in growing his support among GOP voters, who he wishes will help him earn his party’s nomination a third time.

According to The Political Insider’s Rusty Weiss, a new poll highlighted by Fox News “shows the former president with a massive 30-point lead over his nearest competitor, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.”

“When asked to choose from a list of potential Republican candidates, 54 percent of respondents went with Trump while just 24 percent chose DeSantis.”
