Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

Easiest account to keep fee free is the Basic checking account. This has a $5.95 monthly fee, this is waived when you do all of the following:

  • Have a minimum aggregate balance of $500
  • Active enrollment in eStatements, Online Banking & open debit card

Early Account Termination Fee

There is a closed checking account fee of $10 if the account is closed within 3 months. The account does need to be kept open for the full six months anyway.

Our Verdict

Isn’t clear if this can be opened online or not, doesn’t look like it. Not that it really matters as this bonus has entirely too many requirements, especially those centering around direct deposits to be really worth considering. I guess if you can easily change payroll it might be worth doing if it’s a soft pull, but with so many other better bonuses available I’d just give this one a miss personally. As always if you do decide to go for it then share your experiences in the comments below.
