Lincoln Police to conduct a DUI checkpoint

(FOX40.COM) — Lincoln Police will conduct a DUI checkpoint in one of the final days of June, according to the department.
The agency said the checkpoint will be on Friday, June 28, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. somewhere in the city, which is located northwest of Roseville and Rocklin in Placer County.
California law requires sobriety checkpoints to be announced ahead of time but does not require the exact location to be announced.
Lincoln Police said that locations for checkpoints are based on crashes and arrests that involve DUIs, and that the point of the checkpoints is not to arrest more people, but to deter drivers from driving impaired.
Police also said that the checkpoint will not just check for drivers who may have been drinking, but that prescription medication, marijuana and over-the-counter drugs may also cause impaired driving.
A grant from the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund funds the checkpoint.
