Law firm adds former NYS special assistant AG for Medicaid fraud | Long Island Business News

A law firm with offices across the state has added a former New York State special assistant for Medicaid fraud.

Glenn Jones, a healthcare litigator, has joined Harris Beach, which also has an office in New jersey and Connecticut.  Jones works in the firm’s Long Island office in Uniondale.

Jones brings decades of expertise complex regulatory proceedings and criminal and civil investigations in healthcare and other industries.

He has defended individuals and organizations on issues involving the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services, New York Attorney General Office, New York State Department of Financial Services and other federal, state and local agencies.

His areas of expertise include alleged violations of the Stark Act, the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and other compliance regulations.

Prior to joining Harris Beach, Jones served as partner and chair of the healthcare fraud and regulatory enforcement practice at a mid-sized law firm in New York City. He also worked for two firms in Washington, D.C. in business litigation, white-collar crime, government investigation/enforcement and healthcare practice groups, and operated his own practice.

Jones spent eight years as a New York State special assistant attorney general for Medicaid fraud. During that time, he earned the Louis J. Lefkowitz Award, given by the New York State Attorney General for outstanding performance by an attorney in pursuit of the public good.

Earlier in his career, he served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where he investigated and prosecuted fraud and other civil enforcement actions. Jones also spent time in the asset forfeiture and narcotics units in the New York County District Attorney’s office following his graduation from the Northwestern University School of Law.
