Late-night marijuana? Ann Arbor OKs new midnight curfew for pot shops – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

ANN ARBOR, MI — Marijuana dispensaries in Ann Arbor now can stay open late into evenings.
City Council voted 10-0 Tuesday night, Sept. 5, to OK expanded hours of operation for the many pot shops in the city.
The ordinance change allows cannabis retailers to stay open an extra three hours, extending closing times from 9 p.m. to midnight to accommodate late-night customers.
Council approved the measure without much discussion, though Council Member Lisa Disch, D-1st Ward, mentioned other marijuana business regulation changes coming with it.
Those changes include a new Class-A micro-business license type, allowing facilities to grow up to 300 cannabis plants (double the current limit) and to purchase marijuana-infused products from processors.

As for the extended hours for dispensaries, there has been interest among marijuana business owners, city staff told council in a memo, saying after discussion with the Ann Arbor Police Department, staff recommended allowing late-night sales.
Since adoption of the city’s marijuana business regulations several years ago, the city has revised them to continue to accommodate the growing industry. There are 23 marijuana retailers…
