KISUMU, Kenya, Mar 30 – Police in Kisumu have managed to keep off Azimio demonstrators from accessing Central Business District.
Marching all the way from Kondele, the demonstrators were blocked at Patels Flat by anti riot officers.
They didn’t put a fight but turned towards Kachok in their attempt to access CBD using Nairobi road.
While at Kachok, another set of anti riot officers were manning Nairobi road.
Sensing danger, they headed towards Nyamsaria, bowing out, with some falling off.
“Why are we going to Nyamasaria, State House is in town,” said a protestor.
“We can’t be part of a demonstration towards the village, let them do it themselves,” said another protestor.
Kisumu Central MP Dr Joshua Oron is leading the demonstration after Governor Nyong’o Nyong’o failed to show up.
“I promise that this demonstration will be very peaceful,” said Oron at the start of the march in Kondele.
Sure to his words, the demonstration is ongoing peacefully without scenes that have characterized similar demonstrations in the past days.
