Josh X, the artist behind the hit single “Breathe,” is gearing up for his performance at Rickey Smiley’s Birthday Beach Blowout next weekend. During a recent conversation with Rickey Smiley, Maria More, and Gary, Josh shared his excitement and insights about his music journey.

Josh X expressed his enthusiasm about performing at the event, saying, “I’m excited to be down there. I know it’s gonna be super lit. Rickey’s birthday beach blowout is going to be a movie.” He reminisced about his musical beginnings, noting, “My mom put me on the piano at six and said, ‘You’re going to play this or you’re going to die.’” His classical training led him to Juilliard, but his passion for R&B ultimately took center stage.

Maria More, who grew up in Miami, showed her support for Josh X, saying, “I know all my Haitians down there are super excited about seeing your performance at the birthday beach blowout next week.” She also reminisced about playing Josh X’s single “Heaven on My Mind” on Urban AC Radio and expressed her pride in his growth from 2017 to now.
Reflecting on his influences, Josh X mentioned Stevie Wonder and Brian McKnight. “Stevie Wonder has been a huge inspiration for me,” he said. “And Brian McKnight’s ‘Anytime’ was one of my favorite songs growing up.” He also admired Alicia Keys and other artists who combine musicianship with songwriting.
Josh X encouraged fans to follow him on social media under @JoshX on Instagram and Facebook. He added, “Make sure y’all book y’all tickets for this birthday beach blowout. It’s going to be super lit.” As he prepares to hit the stage, Josh’s new single “Breathe” continues to garner attention and excitement for the upcoming event.
