Our names are Jonny and April, and we are from Barnsley in the north of England. We recently moved into a brand-new property with a rectangle of grass for a garden. Over the last five months we have transformed the garden into the beginnings of a tropical paradise, the main feature being the pondless waterfall. Neither of us had ever undertaken a garden project before; however, we have completed all of the work ourselves through the use of YouTube videos and online articles for assistance.
The planting is all on a tropical theme, with mainly smaller plants we can watch grow in ourselves, with a couple of larger tree ferns and palms to provide some height from the outset.
The hard work has clearly paid off, with a dramatic tropical feel already established.
Looking out at the garden from another angle
This view reveals a better look at the waterfall and the beautiful stone paths. There is a great transition from the formal pavers of the sitting area to the more informal gravel paths in the rest of the garden. And the waterfall makes a great statement; I bet it sounds great too!
A perfect spot to sit and enjoy the garden
This waterfall design is pondless, meaning that instead of having an attached pond the waterfall flows into, it simply is pumped up from a hidden reservoir. This offers the beauty of a waterfall but in less space and without the maintenance of a pond.
