CHICAGO — An announcement on major investments to help further gun violence prevention efforts will be made Wednesday in Chicago.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson will be joining several groups in announcing $175 million dollars toward community violence intervention programming in the city.
A news conference with Pritzker and Johnson is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Earlier this week, Johnson faced questions over his response to the deadly weekend violence. At least 19 people were killed, and dozens more were wounded during the extended Fourth of July weekend.
