The SAIC Viloran Night Award Ceremony of the 3rd New Era International TV Festival Ammolite Awards took place in Macau on the evening of March 31. The 3rd New Era International TV Festival Ammolite Awards competition was dedicated to Chinese-language teleplays aired on mainstream TV stations and video websites in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao from January 1 to December 31, 2022. The jury was chaired by renowned actor and director Jianbin Chen, and expert judges, including Jinsong Wang and 23 other notable film and television professionals, were part of the judging panel.

The awards ceremony was graced by the presence of many esteemed actors and actresses, such as You Ge, Zhizhong Huang, Jinsong Wang, Shaohua Ma, Chenggong Zhang, Hanlin Gong, Hairong Tian, Jun Wen, Baiming Huang, Yufang Wu, Huimin Tao, Xiaoran Li, Jean Lee, Xiaolei Huang, Ke Su, Lyric Lan, Ting Zhang, Xuesong Liu, Yao Yuzhu, Cheng Taishen, Feng Lei, Fan Ming, Li Kun, Sun Qian, Yang Lina, Zhou Still, Yiran Zhou, Zehan Ma, Yongxi Liu, Zihua Zhao, Xuan Zhou, and Yuhang Du, among others. “The Story of Xing Fu” emerged as a winner, securing awards for Best Teleplay and Best Realistic Theme Teleplay. The teleplay’s directors, Xiaolong Zheng, Xuesong Liu, and Yuan Yao, were honored with the Best Director award. Xuesong Liu thanked director Xiaolong Zheng and the producer for their trust and concluded his acceptance speech by saying, “May happiness be like sunshine, spreading to thousands of families.”

“The Long River” earned five awards, including Best Producer, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Ancient Costume Teleplay, and Most Influential Actress. Yuzhu Yao, the producer, extended thanks to the entire crew, judges, and viewers of the teleplay. She acknowledged Ting Zhang and the lead actors, including Zhizhong Huang, Jin Luo, and Fang Yin. She remarked, “As Mr. Gong mentioned earlier, producers are like mothers, and I truly feel like a mother in ‘The Long River,’ accompanying my team every step of the way!”

While accepting the award on stage, Director Zhang Ting expressed his hope that the show would enlighten the audience about the sacrifices made by numerous individuals in managing the Yellow River. He emphasized the emotional impact of the story and the presence of exceptional actors, making it a memorable production for all involved.

Jean Lee Won the Best Actor, and Xiaoran Li Won the Best Actress

Jean Lee’s exceptional performance in “The Lord of Losers” earned him the Best Leading Actor award. In his speech, he expressed his excitement at meeting Jinsong Wang and Zhizhong Huang and expressed his gratitude for the honor. He also thanked director Zheng Wei and the entire crew, emphasizing his desire to continue delivering vibrant and artistically expressive performances in the future.

Xiaoran Li’s portrayal of the single mother Jing Tan in “Because of Love” earned her the Best Leading Actress award. She expressed her aspiration to go further and considered the award a significant source of encouragement and motivation.

Ke Su, who played Zhenjia Yu in “The Long River,” received the Best Supporting Actor award. Reflecting on her more than 20 years of acting in teleplays, she considered this her first award and regarded it as representing all the actors in “A Lifelong Journey.” She acknowledged the supporting actors and emphasized their collective contribution to the show’s success, comparing their combined efforts to the radiance emitted by the trophy’s ancient marine life symbolism.

Crystal Liu and Xiao Chen won the award, “A Dream of Splendor” swept the award for Best Ancient Costume Actor And Actress

In the ancient costume teleplay acting awards category, “A Dream of Splendor” emerged as the major triumph, with Crystal Liu winning the Best Ancient Costume Actress award for her portrayal of Pan’er Zhao. Liu’s increasingly mature acting skills effectively conveyed the character’s self-reliance and generosity. Xiao Chen, who played Qianfan Gu, the deputy minister of “Huang Cheng Si” in the same teleplay, won the Best Ancient Costume Actor award, earning significant audience admiration.

Lyric Lan received the Most Popular Actress award for her role in “Time Seems to Have Forgotten.” Expressing her joy, she happily informed host Ming Fan, who had once been her teacher in the film, that she had won the award. She remarked that Macau was a lucky place for her, as it was where she received her first-ever award for Best Supporting Actress. Jianci Tan won the Most Popular Actor award for his performance in “Under the Skin.”

Young actor Yiran Zhou achieved the Best New Actor award for his role in “Twenty Your Life On 2,” while actress Yiran Zhou also received the Best New Actress award for her role in “Song of Life.” They were present at the ceremony to accept the prestigious honors.

Meijuan Xi, honored with the Most Influential Actress award for “The Long River,” could not attend the ceremony but expressed her gratitude through a recorded video message. Baoguo Chen won the Most Influential Actor award for his performance in “The Examination for Everyone.” The event celebrated numerous other award winners as well.

Ammolite Awards helps to spread and promote Chinese Teleplays Overseas

The New Era International TV Festival Ammolite Awards is a teleplays selection event jointly organized by mainstream media in Hong Kong and Macao. It receives strategic support from the China Entertainment Industry Academy, the China Film Research Institute, and the China City Development Academy.

The inaugural edition of the awards, the 1st New Era International TV Festival Ammolite Awards, took place in Macao in December 2019.
